Dr. Abul Hassan

Lecturer in Islamic Economics, Banking & Finance
Dr Hassan obtained his MSc in International Banking from the University of Loughborough and has a PhD in Finance from the University of Durham. He has previously served as a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Brunei Darussalam from 2005-2006 and the Markfield Institute of Higher Education from 2003-2004. [read more]

Educated at the Universities of London, King’s College, Nottingham, and Derby Dr Williams has previously taught Religious and Islamic Studies at the universities of Chester, Derby, and Birmingham City University. His doctoral research focussed upon contemporary perceptions of ‘Ali ibn Abu Talib amongst Sunni and Twelver Shi’a traditions in the UK.[read more]

Dr. Shahrul Hussain

Dr. Shahrul Hussain completed his PhD at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He embarked on his Islamic education at a specialist Islamic seminary, Darul Uloom Al-Islamiyah Al-Arabiyah School & College, Birmingham. After graduating from Darul Uloom he won a scholarship to study at the University of Al-Azhar, Cairo, Egypt, and graduated from the Faculty of Islamic Jurisprudence and Law in 2001.[read more]

Professor John Presley

Visiting Professor and member of the Academic Board of MIHE
John Presley was formerly Professor of Economics and Head of the Economics Department (1991-1996) at Loughborough University. He is a member and former member of several Government and semi-government committees relating to the Middle East and Arab Gulf and has been adviser to the Saudi Arabian Government, World Bank, IMF (et al.) in recent years.
